Our Story

Florence Lock & Key founder Mark Sienkiewicz is the definition of “Hometown.” Born and raised in Florence, the 1981 Northampton High School graduate has spent his life serving and enjoying the community in which he lives. From teenage jobs at Friendly’s and Caldor to running the family business, Florence Hardware, with his brother Todd, Mark has been involved with local commerce on many levels.

In 1992 Mark founded Florence Lock & Key, spending those early days working out of the back of his Chevy Cavalier. Before long, the Cavalier was replaced with the distinctive Florence Lock & Key van, of which the 4th generation can be seen cruising all over the Pioneer Valley. In the fall of 1993 Mark made his best business decision to date, marrying his wife Jackie, well-known to loyal customers as “The Voice” of Florence Lock & Key. Since then, Jackie has maintained customer service and managerial duties for the company, all while raising the couple's two children who are now living & working in the area.

For the past three years, Mark has been known as "Coach" on the field and in the dugout with Northampton Post 28's American Legion Baseball Team. As an Assistant Coach at 1st Base, he helped lead the team to a 2017 Western Massachusetts Division Championship and the club's first appearance in the state tournament since 1996.

True to his commitment to service, Mark was an integral and active member of Easthampton’s volunteer Community Emergency Response Team for over nine years. As “CERT’s” Commander for several years, he routinely worked with local and state police in times of need, leading his team during search & rescue operations, natural disasters and other local emergencies.

When he's not coaching or serving his customers and community, Mark can be found spending time with his family and cheering for the Red Sox, Patriots and Minutemen.

Mark is proud to live and work in the Pioneer Valley, and looks forward to doing business with you!
